The Florida Alliance to End Human Trafficking is a nonprofit organization created by the Florida Legislature to provide funding, support and assistance to the statewide effort to end human trafficking.

Industry Training

In the State of Florida, the following licensed or certified healthcare professionals are required to complete a one-hour educational course on human trafficking by January 1 (annually):

  • Acupuncturists
  • Physicians
  • Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Chiropractors
  • Podiatrists
  • Optometrists
  • Pharmacists
  • Dental Professionals
  • Massage Therapists
  • Physical Therapists
  • Nursing Home Administrators
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Respiratory Therapists
  • Dietitians and Nutritionists
Additionally, public lodging establishments are required to provide annual training regarding human trafficking awareness to employees who perform housekeeping duties in rental units or who work at the front desk or reception area. New employees must complete training within 60 days of being hired or by January 1, 2021, whichever occurs later.

In collaboration with the Florida Forensic Institute for Research, Security, and Tactics, the Florida Alliance to End Human Trafficking developed a training course that focuses on detecting human trafficking, best practices for reporting human trafficking, and the interventions and treatment for survivors of human trafficking. Florida Bar Continuing Legal Education

Florida ranks 3rd in the country in prevalence of human trafficking cases reported. Legal professionals are in a unique position to identify human trafficking and advocate for these victims. The training course focuses on detecting human trafficking, best practices for reporting human trafficking, and the interventions and treatment for survivors of human trafficking.
